    Pennbryn Meet Info

Our first meet is this Wednesday, July 1st.  Directions are available from the meet event on the calendar.

    • Swimmers need to arrive by 5:30 to 5:45PM (at the latest)
    • Warm ups begin at 6:00PM
    • Be sure to bring sweatshirts and sweatpants to keep swimmers warm after they exit the pool
    • Be sure to bring extra towels, too
    • Sharpies are suggested to write the heat and events and lanes your swimmers will be in on their forearms
    • If you are a volunteer for the meet then listen to hear announcements for volunteers to come over to a meeting with the rest of the volunteers before the start of the meet
    • If you are timer you will receive a stopwatch from Alicia Barbor (be sure to return the stopwatch directly to Alicia)
    • All swimmers should refrain from wandering and sitting far away from where the volunteers that "stage" the swimmers are (the volunteers that "stage" the swimmers will call out the age groups they need for the events coming up and no one would want your swimmer to miss their event)
    • It is a night meet and it will get dark and bugs will be out (be sure to have goggles and swim caps kept close by and bug repellent is suggested)
    • At the end of the meet be sure to clean up your area and swimmers will end with a cheer to thank the other team

    Pre team:

Tomorrow during your Tues 9:30AM practice the coaches will have the pre team time trial.

Pretzels and munchkins will be available to enjoy along with water.

    More info on PRE TEAM:

The coaches will have pre team swimmers in the first lane of the pool at some point during every Tues and Thurs pre team practice.  They will test to see if the swimmers are able to swim the backstroke and freestyle (deep end band does not mean that a swimmer can swim in a meet and be on the team).  If the coaches decide the swimmer has progressed in both strokes, then the coaches will talk to the swimmer's parent/s and tell them that the swimmer has the option to swim in the upcoming meet for freestyle only.

This does not mean that the swimmer will be moving up to the lightning practice.  The coaches will keep notes to see when the swimmer has met the criteria needed to move up, and then the coaches will talk to the swimmer's parent.

    Getting excited for the meet!
